Privacy Policy for FidoGram
Last updated: May 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information when you use our browser extension and desktop application (“FidoGram”, “the Extension”, “the App”, or “the Service”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete control over your data.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
The core philosophy of FidoGram is that your data belongs to you. We design our features to keep as much data as possible stored locally on your device.
- Local Preferences and Settings: When you create topics, configure display preferences, set up keyword filters, or configure “Alert Words”, this data is saved directly in your browser’s local storage (via the Chrome/browser
storageAPI) or local application storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it. - Content and Source Data: FidoGram interacts with the Web, RSS feeds, podcasts, M3U playlists, IPTV streams, and radio stations to aggregate updates and organize your workspace. All processing and parsing take place entirely client-side within your browser or local app environment. We do not read, intercept, store, or transmit the contents to our servers.
- Remote Configuration: The application periodically connects to our server (
https://fidogram.app) to retrieve configuration files (such as curated source collections and “Mega-Topic” structures). This request does not transmit any of your personal data or your content to our servers. - Analytics: We may use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to collect anonymous, aggregate usage data. This helps us understand how features are used (for example, how frequently the “Export Collection” or workspace backup feature is clicked) so we can continue to improve FidoGram. This telemetry data does not include any Personally Identifiable Information (PII), your Telegram contacts, feed subscriptions, or message content.
2. How We Use Browser Permissions
The extension requires specific browser permissions to function. We use them strictly for the following purposes:
storage: To save your custom topics, alert words, layout preferences, and workspace settings locally on your computer.notifications: To alert you directly on your desktop when one of your chosen “Alert Words” appears in the channels or feeds you follow.alarms: To periodically wake up the background service worker to fetch new updates and manage local cache maintenance, ensuring your dashboard remains fresh.downloads: To allow you to generate and download a local backup file (.dat/.json/ OPML) of your settings and subscriptions when clicking “Export Collection” or “Backup Workspace”.host_permissions(fidogram.app): To securely retrieve structural data, curated collections, and topic configurations from our dedicated server.optional_host_permissions: Some sources require direct access to retrieve their content. When necessary, we will request permission for the specific hosts.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Because your settings and content sources are processed locally on your device, we have no access to this information to share it in the first place.
The only scenario where your configuration data is shared is if you explicitly choose to use the “Export Collection” or backup feature to generate a backup file and manually share it with friends or across your other devices.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your custom dashboard settings, topics, alert words, and feed configurations remain on your device for as long as FidoGram is installed.
- To delete your data: You can delete your data at any time by uninstalling the extension or desktop app, or by clearing your browser’s local storage data for FidoGram.
5. Third-Party Links and Services
FidoGram retrieves content from external sources, including RSS feeds, podcasts, and media streams. While we aggregate this content into a unified workspace, we are not affiliated with any third-party providers. Your access to and use of these external sources are governed by their respective Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.
6. Advertising and Affiliate Links
To support ongoing development and maintenance of FidoGram, we may display non-intrusive advertisements or include affiliate links within the interface, curated source catalogs, or server configurations.
- Affiliate Links: Some links displayed within the application may be affiliate links. If you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase or subscribe to a service, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
- Third-Party Cookies and Tracking: Clicking an advertisement or affiliate link will direct you to a third-party website. These third-party websites may use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies to record your referral and track activity on their platform according to their own privacy policies.
- Your Data Remains Private: We do not share your personal information, local topics, alert words, or source content with advertisers, affiliate networks, or third-party sponsors. The only information passed to these networks is the standard referral tracking code embedded within the destination link you chose to click.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, particularly regarding analytics or data handling practices, we will notify you by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, displaying an update notice within the application.
