Installation may be blocked by Windows Smart App Control. This happens because the MSI file is not digitally signed.
To allow installation (if blocked):
- Open Windows Security
- Go to App & browser control
- Click on Smart App Control settings
- If the status is On, this is the reason for the block. You can temporarily or permanently change it to Off to allow installation.
Why is the file unsigned?
Code Signing Certificates from recognized authorities incur high financial costs and require annual renewal. For independent developers and free projects, purchasing such a certificate is not always feasible. Therefore, Microsoft’s system may mark files from independent developers as “unrecognized” and block them automatically, even when they are completely safe.
